We are committed to integrating Health and Safety considerations into our business decisions to help ensure the safety of our workforce, our contractors and the public.
Health, Safety and Innovation is our No.1 Priority
GMG is committed to the continued development of its employees to ensure that they remain fully aware and competent in their Health and Safety responsibilities as shown by our Certifications in British Standards, RoSPA and OHSAS Standards.
We employ an independent safety consultant who carries out rigorous internal audits and ensures that all safety documentation and procedures are adhered to and complied with. Further to this we have an internal training programme that ensures all of our workforce are aware of the latest regulations and safe working practices.
BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management
BS OHSAS 18001:2007 sets out the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management best practice. Working with BS OHSAS 18001:2007, GMG Contractors achieve the maximum return for your employees, your operations and your customers.
Rospa Gold Winners
GMG Contractors Ltd have achieved The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) Gold Winners status for the past seven years, with two Silver Awards prior to this. Training & Innovation
GMG Group is committed to the highest standards of training for our workforce.
The group have developed an innovative new vocational qualification for our apprentices which will assist them to qualify in a timeframe and environment that is particularly suited to their needs. For those that choose to go further it will not stop there, opportunities for moving up the company ladder are in place to facilitate that.
Some of our more experienced trades people and former apprentices have been trained as assessors to help our present apprentices get through their training.
The GMG group has a system of continual professional development in place for all staff, which offers the opportunity to an entry level employee to graduate to management level.
All of the Groups management team have or are undergoing training designed to theirs and the business needs, this will underpin the range of knowledge available within the Group. This is designed to make the team more flexible, which makes the whole more than just a sum of the parts, but a well oiled and nimble company machine.
The Group has future plans for our own training Academy which if we can get the funding package to stack up, will not only be used by the Group but the wider industry as well.
The Group are also working in partnership with a number of schools, the Academy training on offer will suit school kids and help them to decide if the industry is right for them. It will also let us see if they are right for our part of the industry or we recommend to other companies who can fulfil their ambitions more appropriately.
The Group played a valuable role on the Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce investigation and final report, which we wee happy to see reflected a lot of our views.
The Group’s commitment to developing young people has been recognised by an Investors in Young People award. The Group is happy to achieve these but we are more pleased by the fact we develop young people into active citizens and an exceptional workforce.
Strathclyde University were suitably impressed when they used the GMG Group as a case study in 2015 for their publication ‘Innovation Works…improving work & workplaces’.
